A warmed heart

It’s hard to believe that one week from today I will be on my way to Kigali. I have collected most everything I will need and just have a few last minute errands to run this weekend.

It’s been a tough week at work. Lots of pelvic pain and leaky bladders. But this afternoon, my heart was warmed by the kindness of two nurses at the Kent Hospital Wound Care Center. This is an amazing place where people with all kinds of wounds go for treatment. This includes people with a colostomy, leg or foot wounds that won’t heal, and a variety of other issues.

I had emailed them a few weeks ago wondering if they had any samples or supplies that I might take with me to Rwanda. I was hoping for a few boxes of supplies, but when I went to pick everything up today, I needed help getting the 2 giant bags and 3 boxes of supplies
into my car.

Another great example of the kindness of strangers. These nurses didn’t know me, but they hugged me when I arrived and were thrilled to find a home for their extra supplies. Thank you Mary and Cindy!
