I am so excited to announce that I am headed back to Rwanda for the third year. I will be there for 9 days at the end of January/February 2018. I will put up a link for fundraising soon, but I was thrilled to see that the airfare was significantly less expensive than in prior years.
I will be sharing a room with a gynecologic oncologist, which is a new specialty for the mission. It will be great to be able to offer cancer care for women in Rwanda, who often have few choices in treatment.
I also have good news about a patient I profiled last year, Claudine. You can read my earlier posts to learn the whole story, but the short version is that she was a young woman with terrible urinary incontinence and an inability to walk after a birth injury. I have heard that she had surgery after we left, and she is now able to walk again. I hope to get more details when I am there.
